Is there certain information that I need to give you?
Yes.
It is a good idea to contact us and let us know your plans in advance and this would include your details and a rough timetable of what you require from a transport point of view. Regular school transport often incorporates days where you may plan to take your child to school based around your work schedule.
To start we need to know:
1. Days of the week
2. The school being attended
3. The time your child needs to be at school each day
4. Pickup location, ie your address
5. The return details, ie the time finishing school and the days etc.
Can you transport children under 11 years old?
Yes.
There is no age restriction for children travelling on their own and we can transport children under 11 years old. We apply strict safeguarding measures with young persons and this will include ensuring their are appropriate adults to meet and greet the young student.
Can you transport children beyond the local borough?
Yes.
It is quite common for children to live in one borough and school in another borough and this is particularly true when children attend bording schools or continue with their education provision when parents have moved house and we can provide both long term transport and short term transport in both cases.
Do you provide transport for children with Special Education Needs?
Yes.

Do you provide transport for children that are Wheelchair users?
Yes.
You will need to visit the School Transport for SEN page.
Do you have rules about children eating or drinking in the vehicle?
Yes.
Food and drink is generally not permitted. There are however exceptions are these are as follows:
1. The child has Special Education Needs (SEN).
2. The journey is medium to long distance.
3. In case of emergency, health wise or medical.
We do however advise that all children have water with them.
Safeguarding & Safety.
Are you approved by the Local Authority?
Yes. Acura Travel is a licensed Private Hire operator.
Acura Travel is also an approved transport supplier for SEND transport.
What do you do about safety and safeguarding?
Acura Travel signs off on the DBS Certificate and the Safeguarding training for each driver. The same principles are also applied to Passenger Assistants that travel with children. Safeguarding refresher training is updated every 3 years as part of informal CPD. In our risk assessments we also include interventions that highlight any external risks where a driver may need to intervene to keep a child safe.
Do you do Risk Assessments around transport for children?
Yes.
