How to get started with school runs

As a professional driver, you may wish to start doing school runs to give yourself regular planned work that is more suited to daytime driving Monday to Friday.

The four major benefits

  • You start and finish early.
  • You work around the school timetable.
  • Your time is free between your schedule.
  • You can include your spouse to work with you as an assistant

The 5 Basic Requirements

You need to meet the following basic five requirements.

  1. You must be a licensed Private Hire driver or Taxi driver.
  2. You must be reliable and able to work to a planned schedule that may flex depending on the needs of the students.
  3. You must be happy to work to the conditions of the Local Authority that are there to ensure childrens’ safety.
  4. Your vehicle will be less than 10 years old.
  5. Above all, you need to be keen.

The first steps

Contact and register with a school run provider, like ourselves. If you are licensed and have a vehicle, be ready to send the normal documents you would register with any Private Hire operator in Doncaster. If on the other hand you are not a licensed driver, get in touch and we will send you a pack.
